Southern Edison's San Onfre plant is nothing but a mess!

I do not know if you have followed the events unfolding at the San Onfre plant as I have, but it is terribly troubling. I guess any in-depth discussion about this plant must start at the heart of its problems. My blog posts dated March 16th and May 1st respectively.

A new report was just recently released in PDF format which was commissioned by Friends of the Earth found that the generators themselves were faulty. Furthermore they went on in this report to find if Southern Edison would have let the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) conduct the proper tests on said generators that the problem with the generators themselves would have been detected much earlier.

Instead Southern Edison rushed them into production long before said tests were conducted. This in turn has allowed Southern Edison to emit radioactive steam! I for one must say the MSM (Main Stream Media's) attention given to this release and the generators themselves has left very much to be desired. What is the NRC's main function-- of course that is to protect the American people from being exposed to such releases.

So little press coverage has been given to this, at this point I would be skeptical if anything will be done to Southern Edison for this gross negligence! If you, like me have an inquiring mind on these issues I would strongly encourage you to read all about this here.

They apparently were allowed to skirt the NRC's rules by claiming that it was a like-for-like switch. But time has proved this to be a falsehood. Until everyone gets up in arms over this, they will continue to get away with it! Hopefully they will do so and Southern Edison will be forced to correct the problems at the San Onfre nuclear plant.
