Flame retardant chemicals-- the asbestos of our time

It is a shame that the flame retardant industry has relied on tobacco and asbestos type lies to accomplish their purposes. But until a few weeks ago most people had never heard of this new monster on the block. Using similar tactics to both the tobacco and asbestos industry employed in their selling of their crap to us.

All of this was brought to light by The Chicago Tribune Newspaper in which they exposed these frauds for what they are. Bear in mind that the same petrochemical lobby is responsible for these products. Furthermore the Tribune found that these flame retardant chemicals are responsible for "reduced IQ in children, reduced fertility, thyroid impacts, undescended testicles in infants (leading to a higher cancer risk), and decreases in sperm quality and function," according to Professor Arlene Blum (she is a professor from University of California).

What is worse is they have been employing these tactics for three or four decades. So, we have a society full of people who were raised in and around these particular chemicals. Why doesn't the government do something about this travesty? Of course the answer to that question can be found by looking at the petrochemical lobby and how massive it has become.
