Yes you heard me right there the United States just became a net exporter of petroleum for the first time in our history as a country like last November. We are exporting more oil than what we take in. Problem is most of it is exported to China who has very little laws to protect out environment at all.
This movie features oil wells and their workers in North Dakota, but I have been told by people employed in such industry that this is some of the nastiest oil that we as the world on a whole has! A little before this time in the movie they spoke about H2S (hydrogen sulfide) which is a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. But the good news is this gas aside the amount of oil which is held in the Bakken formation is nearly limitless. And this does not take into account for all of the shale which can be turned into crude with a relatively simple process.
But this is the very reason why I issued a warning about the Bakken pipeline on April 11 of this year. Of course big oil's plans for this pipeline are to have this pipeline ship oil to the gulf and ultimately into the hands of the Chinese.
It is as if all the free marketers are more interested in profits than they are for providing this country's energy needs!
But one thing that these men failed to mention-- what about providing our energy needs in other ways than with oil? I mean we already have an abundant supply of solar and wind generation facilities which could be used to charge our electric cars. And as many of you know who regularly read my blog their are advances in both wind and solar technology which make it much more competitive to deploy.
This along with the fact that our current President has led the way in these advances by supporting business such as Envia and Honeywell
in their endeavors as well as many others that we have yet to be made aware of. We have a very finite supply of fossil fuels and these investments are necessary to ensure our energy future as a nation. But more importantly, these investments are very essential to ensure our environment's future.
