Yes this is the same Envia who answered Obama's challenge and took top prize with their design. It is ran by a venture capitalist by the name of Atul Kapadia of Cisco fame, as he sold his first company to them for a whopping $150 million as stated in this article which also makes mention of the second company he owned, Afara Web Systems, which was sold to Sun Micro for an undisclosed amount of cash.
I have yet to see anyone manufacture this battery which reportedly hosts a three hundred mile range and can be produced rather cheaply. They already have hundreds of hours behind this battery-- according to Kapadia as noted on my blog I linked to earlier in this article. No numbers have been officially floated about how much this battery would cost-- but the inventors of such say it can be produced for $125 per kilowatt hour. About the only thing I could find was this article which makes mention of this new development in the battery world which is said to possibly reduce battery prices for EV's by half in as few as three to four years (according to the cnet article I just referenced). I guess only time will tell...
