Battery maker a123 files for bankruptcy protection

Well I had received an email yesterday which said a123 had filed for bankruptcy protection. a123 has been troubled for the last couple of years concerning their batteries. You see, it all started be a welding machine in their factory did not make the welds that it was supposed to. This led to a123 selling a slew of bad batteries, warranty claims etc. I hate to hear this, but would like to know what chapter of bankruptcy they are seeking, and whether or not it would allow for reorganization or not.
