Simbol Materials has refined an approach to getting Lithium faster and cheaper than traditional methods
It appears as if Simbol Materials of Pleasanton, CA has came up with a way of producing lithium which is far cheaper than methods employed today. See, they see utilize the hot brine solution which geothermal powerplants use. This brine features other useful metals as well. This could be a crucial turning point in the evolution of rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries. You see we have seen a 35% increase of them in the last few years. And Simbol Materials approach could help to reduce their (lithium ion) coasts.Their (Simbol's) approach is also less time consuming as other processes. As their approach relies on reverse osmosis filtering which takes up to two hours tops; compared to conventional brine evaporation that will take 18 months. If you should want to read more on their process, you can find the info here.
