The Keystone XL pipeline, do we really need it?
To sum it up shortly, the Keystone XL pipeline is not necessary; furthermore the tar sands are worse than oil from the ground. So, what is all this hoopla about this project, who is behind it?Well to sum it up, the Koch's are the driving force behind buildig said pipeline. That is correct, Charles and David Koch have been a big proponent for this pipeline. And they have friends in congress such as John Boehner who have a stake in Canadian tar sands. The process of getting oil from tar sands is the most polluting of all the fossil fuel industry. The process is very energy intensive and is much worse than a break even strategy. Why would we want to do this then? And by the way, the other existing pipelines have been harmful to the environment as well. Hardly a week goes by when a another story about a pipeline busting doesn't come to my inbox. So, are we as the American public going to stand up against the Koch's and Boehner and company?
