Siemens to test eHighway in California

Siemens is about to test an eHighway in California. This technology has already been implemented in Germany and it is coming to the USA now. It was already highlighted at this year’s Electric Vehicle Symposium.

This technology has been around for several decades that Siemens wishes to use. See, their aim is to transmit power wirelessly-- a very admiable aim of Nikola Tesla when he developed AC electricity in the beginning. But now Siemens steps into the debate. They believe their technology is ready for prime time.

But it would not be fair to talk about the trucks that this system is going to handle without acknowledging that they have a diesel powerplant onboard as well. It is designed to power them whenever they are not around any powerlines. As was indicated by this article this technology has been around for forty plus years in Europe-- they just indicated that we would have to wait and see if it catches on here in America.
