What you are dealing with in NW Louisiana is Haynesville shale. The gas rigs have already abandoned this area. It is reported that they (Haynesville area) saw their tax revenue decrease twenty five percentage points, equivalent to $2.5 million just from January to April.
But such fracking technology is spread throughout the country. While it has bee felt throughout the heartland, states such as South Dakota and Texas are going through a boom time by comparison.
Fracking itself is a dangerous process. First of all it could release chlorine a toxic gas, but the environmental impact from fracking is still out. I say it is still out there because several states like Pennsylvanis have took the steps to outlaw such fracking policies. How much more are we going to allow oil and gas companies to rape and pillage our lands for? If you wish to read more about this you can do so here.
