Brazil's Jubarte Field Oil Spill Under Navy Investigation

I have been asleep at the wheel regarding what all is going on with the gas and oil industries. But to make up for this fact, I just thought I should talk about the Brazil's Oil Spill which is a constantly unfolding story.

First, I should start off by telling you the corporation which is responsible for such spill, and this corporation is named Petrobras and this spill is located in their Jubarte oil field. And Brazil's Navy is investigating this oil spill and this marks about the first time since undergoing expansion it has faced an investigation from the government.

The well with the leak is known as P-57, a converted oil tanker turned oil platform. The P-57 oil well is located in the Jubarte field about 85 kilometers (53 miles) off Brazil's coast. Jubarte produced 186,000 barrels of oil per day in February, or about more than 8 percent of Brazil's total oil output of 2.1 million bpd, according to Brazil's oil regulator, the ANP (compliments of the Huffington Post Website).

I might should note that there have been lots of spills in the years following BP's Deepwater/Horizon Oil Spill. Incidentally, Transocean, BP's contract driller has been involved in most of these leaks-- Not just Deepwater! I can only warn the Brazilian people to be very leery of such companies. After all as long as we are dependent on fossil fuels we have basically given them a license to kill!
