German Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Completes 40,000 Hours Endurance Test, Exceeds Expectations

Now information about this fuel cell is sketchy at best. Like its name suggests SOFC (Solid Oxide Fuel Cell) it is apparently a fuel cell. But how does it work and what does it produce would have to be the first questions I would want answered. The only details I have seen thus far say it works on pure hdrogen, but what does it produce-- electricity perhaps? The article which brought my attention to this fuel cell can be found here.
