First off I think I should start this story off by telling you who Stanford Ovshinsky is and what he has accomplished in his life. See, Stan is a visionary, the type of people we don't have in groves these days. He is an inventor by trade, developing things like the NiMH battery, flat screen liquid crystal displays, and rewritable CDs and DVDs.
But I left out perhaps his biggest invention which was thin film solar technology. It has allowed him to produce 'solar shingles' whereby you can get roofing material and solar all in one item. But that isn't all this technology has given us. I mean you can simply take a roll of his thin film technology and use it just about anywhere.
But Mr Ovshinsky had a visionary idea-- combine roofing and a solar panel all into one device. Well he achieved that goal, now to wait and see if consumers catch on to his invention.
