The Senate has failed in their attempts to block legislation aimed at boilers

Just this week the senate in Washington, D.C. has failed in their attempt to halt legislation on regulating boilers. This could been seen as a huge step and a win for environmentalists.

Little did I know until about 5 years ago that the EPA can write their rules without congressional or presidential approval. And this bill sought to keep them (the epa) from writing new rules as it pertains to boilers.

The bill failed in a 52-46 vote last Thursday. This is some rather important legislation as boilers are the second largest polluter of mercury right behind powerhouses. You can read more about this here.
