Well, Jack Rickard has taught me yet another thing about batteries. He introduced in this week's video which u can see in its entirety below here:
As was mentioned in this article's name he introduces you to the Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide batteries. Of importance to note all of this was brought to his attention by Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors.
You see this is the battery that Tesla uses in their cars. But of importance to note is that they gain their range from the battery design themselves. See these batteries have a limited output. So in effect what you are doing is sacrificing performance for range with these batteries. I believe he doesn't start talking about them til about 1:45 into the show-- do not quote me this number as it has been awhile since I watched the show.
