Kudos goes out to Microsoft for implementing its carbon strategy

Well it seems as though Microsoft has taken on a carbon taxing strategy of its own in the wake of our dysfunctional Congress. They are going green starting in July.

The money it collects from this tax will be used to buy REC (Renewable Energy Certificates) and carbon offsets. This will make this software behemoth to declare itself carbon neutral. Such a step by Gates etal is no surprise to me as he tends to be a liberal himself.

Actually, in effect, Microsoft will be buying these credits-- or certificates as they call them-- from clean energy producers themselves. It is hoped that doing this will encourage wind as well as solar producers of electricity, and in the end will cause the grid to shut down electricity derived from dirty power sources such as coal. And they project a savings of $1.5 million for 2013 with a ROI of about 18 months. It is important to know that these are just projected figures, not what they will actually see, as it could be higher or lower than these numbers project it to be.
