Hybrid bucket trucks?

Well unknown to me, they have had Hybrid bucket trucks out for several years now. Wisconsin based Dueco unveiled their hybrid digger truck in 2008, followed by Altec two years later. I cannot imagine what type of motors and hydraulics these trucks must require. The digger alone requires tremendous hydraulics which in turn means that they must have a hefty hydraulic pump on this thing, which also means that it must have a quite hefty electric motor turning such pump.

While a novel idea on its face, I say this is way too unfeasible at the present moment. Now if battery technology improves at the rate it has improved at in the last three or four years such a truck may be more feasible. So, like I have said all too many times on this blog, only time will tell where the hybrid digger trucks go.
