According to NPD Solarbuzz, the price of solar materials is set to drop. The case is well documented that we are right on the verge of the break even cost for PV (photo voltaic) suppliers. So, what are they doing about this you might ask-- well they are set to try out a new product for their lines.
"Cast-mono" silicone is what this new product is called. A hybrid of mono- and multicristalline ingots grown in conventional multicrystalline DS casting furnaces, a lower-cost method than the traditional Czochralski-grown (Cz) mono-Si ingots. So this may mean cheaper costs for a PV array. The Chinese started down the road to making this new product last year, and I a not so sure where our domestic manufacturers are yet.
