Water supply becoming tainted?

If you are like me, you will not like what is currently going on at our ports-- they are getting deepened. The reason for this deepening is so that once the Panama Canal is finished in two years, the ports will be able to accommodate the newest and biggest ships. Read into this-- we will be able to more easily import cheap shit from China.

I mean I do not understand why big business wants to do this for. I mean if you go back in time more than thirty years this was unheard of, but not now. It seems as if big business has adopted this mantra of importing cheap 'stuff' from the Asia-Pacific region.

Never mind that India, China, as well as Brazil has some really laxed environmental policies. As well never mind that people who work in these nations do so at far below the going rate for labor here. All so we can enjoy a ton of cheap marvelous goods at Wal-Mart, or Sam's anything which is owned by the Waltons and their ilk.

What ever happened to those anti-trust lawsuits which brought Standard Oil and MaBell down? I for one would love to see the government take up a few cases like this against the Waltons and their ilk. You can see an article which inspired me to write this article here. And this dredge is supposed to finish up Charleston before moving to Savannah, GA. As of now they are not going below the authorized 45 ft mark. And I, for one hope and pray that they are never allowed to go below this depth, for if they do, it is just another nail in the coffin of our great middle class.
