An article from this site makes the case for renewable energies while condemning the electric car. See, as you should be well aware of our electric grid is full of dirty power made from petro products. The only way to get around this is to deploy the solar and wind generation facilities so that our grid becomes much cleaner.
This study was undertaken in China by the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. China's grid is even dirtier than our own with 85% of their power coming from coal. And according to this study if we all embrace the electric vehicles before we make a 'clean' grid, electric vehicles pollute worse than petro driven ones do!
