2012 Farm Bill could have some conservation practices put in it

As the congress works out a new farm bill for 2012, as the current one is set to expire, there could end up a provision in said bill requiring farmers to put in place 'conservation practices' before any could receive crop insurance. There is without a doubt that our record floods and storms are inexplicably linked to the larger problem of global warming; good luck getting anyone on the right hand of the aisle in Washington to believe you though. 2011 turned out to be the single largest payout of insurance to farmers in history at nine billion and still counting. The senate just held debate on this bill Tuesday. Of course I have not yet checked into what the outcome of this debate was yet, but if I hear what it was, I'll be sure to write a follow up story on it.
