Gulf Oil Spill trial delayed yet again-- Justice proves to be elusive to rig workers' families
U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier cites the fact that BP and plaintiffs may be reaching some sort of agreement. Of course this case involves the Deepwater Horizon rig which caught on fire April 20, 2010, and killed eleven workers and led to the nations largest ever oil spill. According to a confidential informant, the judge did not discuss settlement talks of other parties, nor did he elaborate on any figures being discussed. Furthermore the brief order issued by Barbier on Sunday said only that the delay was granted "for reasons of judicial efficiency and to allow the parties to make further progress in their settlement discussions." You can read more about it here. And the trial is set to begin March 5th of this year.
