If you are like me, you should know of the Savannah River Plant, but not for what it is known for. See near the end of my educational career was when I first learned of the site. In the future they are supposed to remix old nuclear fuel (from bombs) to be reused in nuclear power plants. Well this story is not about the DOE's plans for the site, but rather for its biomass plant that it already has on site. Projected to bring savings as well as cleaner air I say kudos to the DOE.
See it are things such as this which could usher in a new dimension of power production. For one, this plant provides all of the power that the site uses, plus it provides steam for the site as well. I think lawmakers would have been a lot better off to build this more near to the origins of all nuclear fuel for the last fifty years (Paducah, Portsmith, Oak ridge)-- you know what they say, if you want something done wrongly, involve the government in its construction.
I will do my best to bring you stories about up and coming technology in the world of energy. I will also bring you the utmost information on stories which have an impact on our environment here on planet Earth. Please be sure to like my blog folks, otherwise I have no way of knowing whether you like it or not.
