CHAdeMO is the only standard there is right now for Level 3 chargers for EV's (Electric Vehicles). It is not a US standard-- in fact it was standardized by Tokyo Electric if I am not mistaken. You can see what the plug for such charger looks like down below. One thing to note, the level 3 chargers require a higher power input than is usually available at homes. And requires quite a bit bigger cable to deliver the amps to the car. The plug looks fairly reminiscent to a welding cable. And btw, CHAdeMO actually stands for 'CHArge de MOve', it is just an abbreviation of this statement. And this affects you how? Well as the price of gas keeps going up and up, electric vehicles will become more competitive and you should know what your options are and what they look like.
